Preliminaries
To gain an understanding as to what happens at a preliminary competition see a short video taken during the 2010 Hawkes Bay preliminary competition held in Napier at EIT as introduced by Scott Applegate (video courtesy of EIT).
THE CHALLENGE FORMAT A one-day (8 hour) elimination round will be staged nationwide during March and April. Please note; all regions (except Invercargill) hold their competition midweek. With the top qualifiers (highest 5 - 7 scores from across the country in each section), invited to compete in the three day NZ final for that year.
In the preliminary round, you will be required to put together a working simulation of an everyday application – very similar to what you have done on block course. The New Zealand final is much of the same. Yes. It will be a bit more complex and a lot more time consuming, but it will also be a lot more rewarding for you, your employer and your training provider.
The preliminaries are being held in at least ten different centre’s across NZ, the sooner you get your completed entry in, the better chance you have of competing at a venue near you. ECANZ Challenge domestic-commercial project example info.pdf
