| | | First Place | | Dwight Grayburn (30) | | Employer: Action Electric Ltd, Christchurch Off-Job Trainer: CPIT |  | Dwight began his electrical apprenticeship with Action Electric Ltd three years ago and during that time Dwight has been involved in new plant installations, factory maintenance and breakdowns, as well as all aspects of domestic electrical work, including security alarms and the wiring and commissioning of heat pumps. He is married to Janelle and has a new son called Blake. Out of work Dwight has enjoyed renovating four houses (the latest one in which he still lives), playing touch rugby and spending time with his family. | Second Place | | | Trent McKenzie (21) | | ETCO Host Company: H&Js Electrical Ltd, Invercargill Off-Job Trainer: ETCO |  | Trent McKenzie has been employed by ETCO since April 2007 and has been hosted by H&Js Electrical in Invercargill since that time. Trent has been mainly involved in domestic and commercial installation and maintenance work during his apprenticeship. He is currently awaiting the results of his Theory and Regulations exams and is due to complete his apprenticeship in October. Trent is married to Rebecca and lives in Invercargill. | Third Place | | | Maikara Deer (22) | | Employer: Plunket Electrical Ltd, Timaru Off-Job Trainer: ETCO | | Maikara began his apprenticeship with Timaru contracting firm, Plunket Electrical in 2007, after completing a years study at Canterbury University. Maikara has gained experience in a large variety of activities within the electrical industry, ranging from general domestic work through to industrial experience with one highlight being the installation of automation robots at the McCains Foods site. He has also had experience in the dairy industry with involvement in the installation and maintenance of production plant and irrigation control systems. Maikara has interests in rugby, surfing and enjoys socialising with his friends. | | | | | |
